History of the manga MHA:

My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi . The story follows Izuku Midoriya , a boy born without superpowers (called Quirks) in a world where they have become commonplace, but who still dreams of becoming a superhero himself. He is spotted by All Might , Japan's greatest hero, who chooses Midoriya as his successor and shares his Alter with him after recognizing his potential, and later helps him enroll in a prestigious high school for heroes in training.

The series has been serialized in Weekly Shennen Jump since July 2014, with its extra chapters collected in 30 tankōbon volumes starting in April 2021. The series has also inspired many spin-off manga , such as My Hero Academia Smash!!! , My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions , as well as an animated television series of Bones . Its first season aired in Japan from April to June 2016, followed by a second season from April to September 2017, then a third season from April to September 2018, a fourth season from October 2019 to April 2020, and a fifth season premiered in March 2021. It also received three spin-off animated films, respectively entitled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes , My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission . A live-action movie from Legendary Entertainment is planned.

The manga and anime adaptation has received a very positive reception from critics and audiences, and is considered one of the best of the 2010s, with several awards, including the 2019 Harvey Award for Best Manga. As of April 2021, the manga had over 50 million copies in circulation worldwide.

The story of My Hero Academia takes place in a world where currently most of the human population has acquired the ability to develop superpowers called "Quirks" It is estimated that about 80% of the world's population has an alter. There are an infinite number of Alters, and it is extremely unlikely to find two people who have exactly the same power, unless they are closely related. Among the Alter-enhanced individuals, some of them earn the title of Hero, who cooperates with the authorities in rescue operations and apprehends criminals who abuse their powers, commonly known as villains. The series focuses on Izuku Midoriya, a young man who dreams of becoming a hero despite being harassed by his violent childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo for lack of alter. The two youngsters idolize one of the world's greatest heroes, All Might, whom they both met, with Izuku being one of the few who knows about a serious injury that All Might hid from the public eye to maintain morale. All Might also reveals the nature of his alter "One For All" and passes it on to Izuku to succeed him after seeing the youngster's determination in the face of danger. As Izuku begins his path to becoming a hero by attending UA High School alongside Bakugo and the friends they make in Class 1-A, a sworn enemy of "One For All" users named All For One conditions his apprentice Tomura Shigaraki to destroy the current society and its heroes.
