Starwars Action Figures

Starwars Action FiguresWhile the Force can be used for good, it has got a troubled side that, when pursued, imbues users with loathing, aggression, and malevolence. The 6 films feature the Jedi, who use the Force for good, and the Sith, who use the troubled side for malicious in a plan to take over the galaxy. In the Expanded Universe many dark side users are Dark Jedi rather than Sith, mainly thanks to the Rule of two ( see Sith Origin ). One of the prominent elements of Star Wars is the "Force", which is an omnipresent form of energy which can be harnessed by those with that ability. It is described in the 1st produced film as "an energy field created by all living things that surrounds us, penetrates us, & binds the galaxy together." The Force permits users to perform a spread of supernatural feats ( such as telekinesis, clairvoyance, precognition, and mind control ) and also can amplify certain physical traits, for example speed & reflexes ; these capabilities can change from user to user and can be improved through coaching.

Back in the early 80's my bro bought a Ralph Mcquarrie "Star Wars" "Portfolio" with "Letterbox" style pre-production paintings for the "first" "Star Wars" film. I remember how my imagination ran wild with the "alternate" versions of all the major personalities. I particularly dug the Luke vs. Darth Vader painting where Vader had this very wolf-like mask where the top helmet was more Samuri looking and the mouth griddle came out like the muzzle of a wolf ( an Luke looked cool with the oxygen mask too ). The Stormtroopers looked cooler too, and they'd lightsabers! And shields! And the painting of the 2 droids was cool because R2 looked much more expressive and functional, and 3PO looked like the robot from "Metropolis". Anyhow, somebody, somewhere, had the brilliant concept to really make action figures based on these early pre-production paintings by McQuarrie! I have managed to get the 1st eight of the twelve so far ( Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Luke, C-3PO and R2-D2, Chewbacca, & Ben Kenobi and Yoda ) and anticipate the final four ( Leia Starkiller [back when "Luke" could have been a chick!], Han [George Lucas] Solo, Snowtrooper, and the one I have been needing since around 1980 : McQuarrie Darth Vader ). Grand clone soldier figure! I actually like him a lot! He includes tons of cool weapons too : he has got a long Riffle and a launching cannon that attaches on to it! He also includes 2 pistol guns, that store in his holsters! And last but not lest, he includes 2 different missiles that launch from his cannon : one is simply a regular missile, and the other has a string attached to it. And his last accessory would be his removable helmet! He has also got tons of detail! A very great figure I HIGHLY counsel him! I concur with the prior review. This figure isn't as well done as the Obi Dismal figure and its hand is poorly formed to hold a lightsaber. It is a decent likeness of the cartoon Anakin but has the same boundaries to movement as Obi Dismal , given its long costume. That has not kept my 4-year-old from getting hours of delight out of it which explains why I give it a higher rating overall.

This figure has the same issue as Obi Dismal with the missile weapon provided. Like Obi Dismal's, it is still in place when fired. The rope is nice but there's no simple way to clamp it and naturally Anakin, with his hands, can't grasp it, so it's of limited use. My boy tosses it aside when he digs thru his figures and has utterly ignored the dysfunctional missile. I have not begun to see it in place on Anakin's shoulder. And of course, like Obi Wan's backpack missile, it didn't appear in the movie. From The Clone Wars, the computer animated picture and series on Cartoon Network, this is a great looking Anakin Skywalker figure for your collection. The likeness is wonderful.

The articulation leaves something that should be desired, usually because the knees don't bend, so this could be a controversy for you, especially if you are purchasing it for play or express poses, but the likeness quality still makes it a neat toy to have for display, particularly next to the new Padme figure or Ahsoka, Anakin's Padawan learner. This figure incorporates some accessories too. First, there's the sole necessary accessory, Anakin's blue-bladed lightsaber. Additionally, and these are potentially only truly valuable for those that have play to mind, Anakin incorporates an arm mountable blaster cannon that spring-launches a missile, and also a chord with handles on each side for whatever sort of climbing, hanging, or swinging journey you could concoct.

Anakin doesn't hold on to these handles very well.

I do not have much issue with him holding his lightsaber and I like that he will be able to do it with both hands, but these rope handles appear to be a bit little for him.

Overall, I say this is a pleasant figure for the collector and doubtless adequate for most kids at play, but some articulation in the knees would be nice, and I would like to see more effort paid generally to ensuring action figures can hold onto their accessories. I need to write about the sturdiness of this toy. I am big Star Wars collector and last night while rearranging things in my residence my X-Wing which is placed on top of a 6 foot tall book shelf, was knocked off. I was frightened. I was so scared the cannons or wings would break. I looked and all of the wings and cannons fell off but they were all intact! I simply put the ship back together and made certain that it's as good as it was when I first purchased it. I was so relieved and amazed! I highly counsel this item.
