Neca Action Figures
The corporation was set up in 1996 and has over 60 licenses for which it produces products. The National Entertainment Collectibles Association or NECA is a Yankee maker of collectibles sometimes approved from movies, sports, music, and TV based in New Jersey.
They are planned for kids and adults as collectibles for many licenses that no other corporation would market as a toy. However, they have found quite a lucrative market in young males. In 2002, NECA's Reel Toys was formed as a separation to produce action forms and dolls that are focused towards Neca action figure and toy enthusiasts.
As keen on the game, and having bought this item for it collector price, I am barely unhappy with only 1 some of it. I had acquired 2, so I may open one, and keep the other sealed. Once opened, I turned on the illumination capability of the marionette, and was disappointed.
Though the helmet and health backbone look good when the light is off, if you turn it on, the light appears more white than it should. Also, you can see the 'blue' was painted on. Other than that, the manikin looks great! This is the NECA version of the T-800 from Terminator two played by everybody's favorite action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger. He reenacts the scene where the terminator reveals himself to be a cyborg to Miles Dyson by cutting the flesh from his left forearm off.
For Children : I'd place the fun factor for children at medium thanks to a couple of factors. On the pro side it is a massive beefy action man with a gun and a bloody robotic arm. Pretty cool and he could be hero or villain. On the con side he is from a flick hardly any younger youngsters today will be that acquainted with.
Also the articulation is a bit limited. For Adults : He comes in much higher on the scale for adult collectors - understandably considering that is the market this figure is targeting most likely.
NECA walks a fine middle ground between detailed sculpts and articulation. Sculpt sensible this figure is extremely impressive. First, the head is an extraordinarily correct likeness of Arnold from any angle down to complicated wrinkles in his neck and forehead and veins in his arms. Even the terminator flat top hair cut looks superb. Add to that pragmatic details and wrinkles sculptured into his clothing ( you may also see muscle definition under the shirt ) and the robotic arm and hand with detail down to the knuckles and you have one sweet sculpt. Similarly on the paint ; the skin and hair all looks great and there's no slop, not even on tiny areas like the eyebrows. It would seem there could be some awfully light wash on the face to bring out some of those tiny sculpt details and it's great. He has got black pants ( also with detail wash ) and boots, a brown belt and gray shirt. The robotic arm is silver covered in a few of red blood ( since he just cut the flesh away ).
Because this bloke is from a particularly categorical scene and aimed at collectors he actually only looks perfect in one pose - standing there all frightening holding up his bloody robot arm. He has got a ball joint at the base of his neck and it has superb range of movement. He has ball shoulders and a cut joint on both arms at the sleeve but no elbow articulation and no wrist articulation on his right arm. His robot arm revolves at the elbow and wrist. There's a cut waist, a cut on his left thigh and both his feet revolve though the left one is extraordinarily limited. NECA has only given the basic joints required and none that would hurt the sculpt. As a matter of fact the sole joints you can see at all is the pins in the ball shoulders. I am satisfied with this small toy. The one thing I need to protest about is that his kung-fu grip is severely lacking : you will start swearing before you are done posing him if you try and keep his cutter in his hand. Aside from that, the figure's inspiring.
Some recommendation, though : if he stands up out of the box, please, for your own reason, don't start moving him. Thanks to those twenty points of articulation it's close to very unlikely to get him to stand up properly after you have started moving his hips. Anyhow, it is a nice figure, from where I am they're about sold out, and it is not weird, as it's a pretty detailed figure with a veryy detailed level of acuracy. I also have another figure from Neca, the one of Kratos, from God of War, and it is also very well done and detailed. Not very much to say about this that you will not already know just from taking a look at the available pic.
This is another fine addition to Neca's already overwhelming line of life like action figures. I am not sure that I might advocate this to youngsters as I do not know how durable it is as I haven't removed mine from it's package. I purchased it more for display purposes. As with many of these statue like statuettes I won't imagine they are the most sturdy of play things, but again I cannot say for sure ; that would just be my guess. If you are a fan of the "300" film / book / event like myself this figure will look good on show in or outside of it's packaging. Now if I could just get a "Day Of The Dead - Bub" figure I'd be in heaven : ) !! GO NECA!!!!!
