Military Action Figures

Everyone knows that giving away jewelry, appliances, clothes, and vintage ornaments make great gifts, but the focus of most holiday seasons especially during Christmas is still centered toward children of all ages, that would eventually mean, above all else, handing away toys.

Before, there came a time when using dolls and guys in the same phrase referred to the timeless and classic broad way musical only. That is until one group of company looked over at what Mattel Toys had achieved in its line of Barbie doll production accessories. Under the direct guidance of a famous toy designer and partially influenced by a popular military TV show, this company began developing pliable figurines called G.I Joe. This then spark the beginning of the guy doll concept.

Although G.I Joe belongs to the Military Action Figure category, the very first military battle figure debuted earlier than G.I’s release. It began with a Yankee cartoon infantryman and received an extensive business manufacturing over some decades. The key element of the standard 12-inch guy doll was in its articulation feature: twenty-one moveable joints that permit the action figure to stay in a combat posed position. Its owner would determine the position, pose, and its separately sold accessory and how the action figure would be played.

Most military battle figures settle on World Ward theme. The Napoleonic War, Civil War, and Revolutionary Soldier sets are examples of soldier play sets that have been around in toy stores for a long time. Scar on the faces of each soldiers are the figure’s usual signature to help differentiate them from other action figures.  A public relation campaign once claimed that the face of the action figure was a composite of the World War Medals.

Today, the G.I Joe brand is one of the best selling lines of Military Action Figure for both young and adult audience. The knock-offs of G.I grew and appeared quickly, including subpar looking imitators and their G.I look alike action figures. The success of G.I Joe was purposely built for commercial success and for the Yankees heroism.

The story of the G.I Joe Military Action Figure, like its competitors, also centered on war theme events. Although the Hasbro Toy Company de-branded G.I Joe as an adventure action figure to reduce its original Vietnam War theme. G.I still remained its influence due its appearance on screen. G.I Joe was originally inspired by fantasy and real heroic events that took place during the Good War Time. Because of this, it quickly gained popularity among boys and numerous male adults.
