Doctor Who Action Figures
The show's protagonist, the Doctor, has been played by 10 actors over the history of the show so far. The change from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show as regeneration, and the different portrayals are typically treated as distinct characters, to the limit that they have on occasion encountered each other and worked together. The Doctor is currently portrayed by David Tennant, who has commented that he's going to leave the task after appearing in four special episodes throughout 2009 and early 2010. In the programme's most recent series, which ended on five July 2008, Catherine Tate played the Doctor's companion, reprising her role of Donna Noble from the 2006 Yuletide special. Following the 20092010 special episodes, a fifth series will air in 2010, in which the Eleventh Doctor will be portrayed by Matt Smith with Karen Gillan playing his companion, Amy pond.
If you are reading this, I suspect we are able to think you are either a Doctor Who fan or you are buying someone that is. Either way, this toy is just about vital. Made in scale with the range of 5" WHO action figures, this reproduction of the famous time-travel ship is very inspiring. A total of eight sound effects can be heard by making the ship take off or land from a leveled surface, shaking it while in "flight", or spinning it thanks to the recessed mechanism on the bottom. Light glows from inside, and the signature blue "police" light on top flashes. The doors open to bare a painted interior. As some other person has declared, the sound effects appear barely off from the "real" thing. But they are close enough, and the take off and landing sounds are at random generated, providing variety. Additionally, the toy appears pretty robust ( at that point, I should admit that I am a forty years old man. .I'm undecided how well this TARDIS will hold up in the hands of an energetic younger person ). If you can live with the hefty price ticket, this is undeniably a fine product. This is the Final collection for fans of New Doctor Who! Ten fantastic figures incorporating key characters from Series one. The Moxx of Balhoon, The Empty Kid , an Auton, a Slitheen, Mutant exhibit Dalek, the Sycorax leader, expanded Pig from the episode "Aliens of London", Captain Jack, the Nineth Doctor and even the just regenerated Tenth Doctor, still in his old self's leather jacket. The sole bummer about this pack is that Cassandra- one of most unusual characters ( villains ) of the series isn't included. But hey, it's still a brilliant pack, and works out much less expensive than it might if you were to buy each figure separately. These men are all extraordinarily sturdy and would resist a child's play really simply. do obey the commended age on the packet, as there are some pieces included.
I positively LOVE this set!!! I'm sixteen and a big Doctor Who fan, and I just got this set last night,I almost stayed up all night to play with it! This set's quality is awesome! The figures are well formed and well painted. The judoon captain and soldier even come with guns that you can put in their hands and dalek Thay has wheels so he will move! Both great and astonishing bonuses! But,of course, the Doctor is my favorite!! I'm chuffed to bits with this set!!! ( that suggests, for people who don't talk English jargon, I'm very, very pleased.
) a fabulous set and worth the price! As I mentioned before I like it! Twenty-nine Oct 2008 : Title and outline properly state this is for a figure of the 9th Doctor, but photo ( as of this review, anyhow ) wrongly shows the 5th and tenth Doctors in the "Time Crash" set of figures. Ensure you are ordering what you suspect you are ordering, before you hit that Add to Cart button. Naturally, there's zip wrong with getting a 9th Doctor figure! ( Or one to spare, should you happen to have one already ) Update 15 November 2008 : Photo for product is now correct, yay! And I needed to mention... Only four stars, because I do not yet know how sturdy it is, and truly, how "educational" is an action figure? But truthfully, it's a rather fun small toy, excellent for fans of every age. Well, excepting the wee, of course... Tiny parts and all that -- minute Sonic accessory.
The package suggests ages 5+.
This is a fun Captain Jack action figure, with nice detailing and a fair similarity to John Barrowman. Likely not durable enough for babies ( and the included sonic pistol would be lost in the first 10 seconds of tangible play use ), but solid enough as a PC desk mascot for adult geeks like myself. I especially like that he is balanced enough to be free-standing, and the matte finish of the painting gives a classy look.
Mini!Jack is a valued addition to my collection. My only gripes -- the arm articulation is sort of limited, especially compared to the leg articulation. Also, it would be nice if he was outlined wearing one of the personality's outfits from either Doctor Who or Torchwood ; the RAF jumpsuit is a little bit of a non sequitur. But those are minor issues -- overall, I actually like this product.

Doctor Who is a British science-fiction TV programme produced by the BBC. The programme outlines the journeys of a confusing alien time-traveller known as "the Doctor" who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which typically appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving Problems, facing a variety of enemies and righting wrongs.
The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. After an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production with a backdoor pilot in the form of a 1996 TV film, the programme was successfully relaunched in 2005, produced in-house by BBC Wales in Cardiff. The 1st three seasons of the new series had some development money contributed by the Canadian Broadcasting enterprise ( CBC ), which was credited as a co-producer. Doctor Who has also spawned spin-offs in multiple media, including the current TV programs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane adventures, the approaching K-9 and a single 1981 pilot episode of K-9 and Company.
